Survival swim lessons in Fredericksburg for ages 6 months to 6 years old
Mighty Floaters Infant Aquatics offers specialized survival swim instruction in the Fredericksburg, VA area designed to help infants, toddlers, and young children develop critical water-safety and self-rescue skills. Through age-appropriate lessons, children learn how to respond if they unexpectedly enter the water, build confidence, and become more comfortable in an aquatic environment.
Programs are structured to help children develop these important skills within four to six weeks, depending on their age and program level. Instructors work carefully with each swimmer to create a supportive experience while helping them build confidence from one lesson to the next.
Rollback-to-Float Program
The Rollback-to-Float program is designed for infants ages 6 to 15 months. During this four-week program, infants learn how to hold their breath underwater, roll onto their backs, float independently, and rest while breathing until help arrives.
This program focuses on giving infants a foundational self-rescue response while also helping them become familiar with the water in a safe and structured setting.
Swim-Float-Swim Program
The Swim-Float-Swim program is designed for walking children ages 15 months through 6 years old. Over the course of six weeks, toddlers and young children learn an independent swim sequence that includes swimming forward, rolling onto their backs to float and rest when tired, and then returning to swimming.
Children practice repeating this swim-float-swim sequence until they are able to reach the side of the pool or another point of safety. The program helps swimmers develop endurance, independence, and greater confidence in the water.
Lessons are currently held during the morning at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School, located off Route 3.
The final 2026 session start dates available for new swimmers are September 7 and October 19. Families can register by emailing Coach Allysa or visiting the Mighty Floaters Infant Aquatics website.
