The League of Women Voters of the Fredericksburg Area hosts its Civic Conversations Book Club on Saturday, February 28 from 1:00–3:00 PM at the Howell Library Branch (Room 5). This month’s selection, The Woman Behind the New Deal, explores the life of Frances Perkins and her role in shaping landmark labor and social policies such as Social Security. The discussion will focus on how policy becomes law and how civic engagement influences government decisions. Free and open to the public.
